HECTOLITRE est un lieu où les artistes peuvent s’immerger complètement dans leur pratique, expérimenter la transdisciplinarité et créer du lien entre leurs recherches/formes artistiques et le quartier. Les artistes qui vivent et travaillent à HECTOLITRE rejoignent une communauté interconnectée composée d’habitants impliqués, d’acteurs socio-culturels, d’artistes et curateurs locaux et internationaux.

HECTOLITRE est aussi un bâtiment atypique situé au cœur du quartier des Marolles, où s’établit en ce moment un changement d’identité radical. Autrefois club échangiste puis lieu de stockage d’antiquités, l’espace est rempli d’interventions d’art brut singulières, rendant l’intérieur très chargé, comme une sorte de « forêt mémorielle ». Bien que visuellement et symboliquement complexe, le cadre se prête parfaitement à l’expérimentation, à la recherche, au questionnement, et accueille des ateliers partagés, expositions, performances, rencontres musicales, projections de films, débats, ainsi que de nombreuses autres initiatives. La complémentarité entre artistes, curateurs, créatifs et voisinage habite le lieu et catalyse l’échange.

Le projet est basé sur l’échange ouvert, curieux et bienveillant. L’innovation, la persévérance, l’envie d’entreprendre guident la démarche, le tout dans une atmosphère qui se veut joyeuse, vivante et harmonieuse. La méthodologie de co-création et d’intelligence collective préside à l’organisation de la vie sur place et à la conception et réalisation des projets.

HECTOLITRE is a space dedicated to artists who wish to delve deeper into their projects, experiment with transdisciplinarity and connect their art form/research to the neighborhood. The artists living and working at HECTOLITRE are co-joining interconnected community rings, together with involved neighbors, socio-cultural activists, local and international artists/curators.

HECTOLITRE is also an unusual building in the heart of the Marolles neighborhood undergoing a radical change of identity. Former swingers club, then storage for antiques, the space is filled with peculiar Art Brut interventions, resembling a kind of «memory forest».Thus, visually and symbolically complex, the surrounding is no obstacle, but rather is perceived as a living system to accept, associate, question, and experience, providing a shared atelier, hosting exhibitions, performances, musical encounters, film projections, debates and other initiatives. The complementarity among artists, curators, creatives and neighbors inhabit the place and catalyze exchange.

The project’s device is based on open, curious and benevolent exchange. Innovation, perseverance, the desire to undertake guide the approach, all in an atmosphere that is joyful, lively and harmonious. The methodology of co-creation and collective intelligence governs the organization of the life of the place and the design and implementation of projects.
